LinkedIn Embraces AI Fully in Recruiting Platform

LinkedIn is upping its recruitment game with a full embrace of generative AI, and for the techies at the company, it’s a no-brainer. The platform is rolling out new AI-powered features tailored for both recruiters on its platform and job seekers prowling the network for opportunities. Hari Srinivasan, LinkedIn Talent Solutions’ VP of product management, sheds light on the power of “Gen AI.” It’s all about leveraging patterns within data pools to unearth career possibilities for users and a pool of potential candidates for hirers.

The latest updates to LinkedIn’s Recruiter experience for 2024 have already hit the ground running. A select group of recruiters are test-driving these features, with plans to expand access throughout the year. With the revamped Recruiter, talent acquisition pros can bid adieu to traditional Boolean searches. Instead, they can draft hiring projects using natural language tailored to their hiring objectives.

Srinivasan emphasizes the shift from rigid search queries to a more organic approach. By starting with broader terms and skills, generative AI expands the horizon of potential candidates, tapping into varied backgrounds that recruiters might not have initially considered.

LinkedIn’s secret sauce? It harnesses data insights from its Economic Graph to inform these hiring projects, revealing hidden skill associations that might elude the radar of a TA pro. This move by LinkedIn to harness generative AI aligns with its vision of tackling a common hiring woe: aligning candidate skills with job requirements seamlessly.

The platform recently unveiled a new AI-powered tool for premium members, aiming to bridge the gap between their existing skills and those coveted for desired roles. Srinivasan highlights the significance of generative AI in achieving “skills-based hiring.” It’s like learning a new language, and in this case, AI plays the role of the translator, making unstructured data more organized and accessible for effective talent matching.
